Factoring (Beginning Algebra Module 7)

The module include Introduction to Factoring and Polynomial Equations, Second Degree Equations of the General Type, Factoring Second Degree Equations with a Leading Coefficient, Special Factorizations, General Strategies for Factoring Polynomials, and Post-Assessment.

Description

Students will successfully factor second and third degree expressions using general factoring techniques and will use the zero factor property rule to solve second degree equations and functions. Module includes: Pre-Assessment, Introduction: Factoring, Section 1: Introduction to Polynomial Equations, Section 2: Second Degree Equations of the General Type, Section 3: Factoring Second Degree Equations with a Leading Coefficient, Section 4: Special Factorizations, Section 5: General Strategies for Factoring Polynomials, Post-Assessment. This course starts with an introduction to polynomial equations and how to graph them. This course then goes into factoring second degree equations of the general type by identifying and factoring the greatest common factor. Next, the course goes through how to factor second degree equations with a leading coefficient in the same way. Then the course goes over special factorizations and different general strategies that can be used when trying to factor polynomials such as by using the number of terms technique. The course includes tests and interactive media to keep engagement as well as pre- and post-assessments.
