California State University Long BeachSkillsCommons’ mission is to accelerate the democratization of education for all through open educational services and resources enabling individuals, communities, educational institutions, organizations, and businesses to prepare people for successful employment in the 21st Century. The United States Department of Labor created a free & open online library called SkillsCommons containing free & open online training materials for job-driven workforce development. The $1.9 billion investment by the US Department of Labor produced a comprehensive collection of workforce-related Open Educational Resources (OER) developed by over 700 US community colleges. SkillsCommons works with workforce development partners and educational institutions to support the creation, contribution, distribution, and adoption of OER through SkillsCommons library and professional development services. People needing free workforce training materials have already downloaded the SkillsCommons materials over 3 million times. SkillsCommons is a program of the California State University Long Beach Foundation and the CSULB campus is ranked in the top 1% of all public universities in the United States. |
